Abstract

Hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) separations are becoming much more popular in recent times across many application areas. The ability to retain polar neutral and polar ionizable analytes makes HILIC particularly popular for metabolomics, drug development and environmental analyses. However, HILIC method operation and method development experience is relatively limited in comparison to reversed-phase liquid chromatography. This seminar is designed to help the new HILIC chromatographer avoid the typical pitfalls that HILIC presents with hints and tips and by establishing the critical parameters involved in HILIC separations. A generally applicable selectivity-based method development platform is also presented and an example HILIC method developed.
