Part 1: Understanding Chromatographic Selectivity
Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 at 1:00PM-1:30PM ET
Watch the Recording
Gemma Lo reviews the importance of chromatographic selectivity in RPLC from a theoretical and practical perspective and how this relates to analyte resolution for method development. An overview of the method development workflow is discussed.
Part 2: Utilizing Stationary Phase Design in Method Development
Thursday, October 24th, 2024 at 1:00PM-1:30PM ET
Watch the Recording
With an understanding of selectivity, and using a variety of chromatographic data, we discuss phase design principles and how it is possible to introduce functionality to enhance selectivity through different mechanisms such as hydrophobicity, π-π, dipole-dipole and shape selectivity interactions.

Based upon the key parameters to maximize selectivity, a systematic and optimized method development screening platform is described and example method development activities are illustrated using the complementary stationary phases with MeOH and MeCN solvents.
About the Presenter:
Gemma is a Global Portfolio Manager at Avantor, based in the UK, responsible for the self-manufactured chromatography portfolio which includes HPLC, UHPLC, GC, TLC and sample preparation columns and workflow solvents. Gemma has over a decade of experience working in the Hichrom technical support team, troubleshooting chromatography methods, recommending suitable column chemistries and supporting the vast range of chromatography columns. Additional experience in HPLC column manufacture and business development are used to support the portfolio. Originally a Biochemist, focus areas include the analysis of biomolecules and polar analytes by various chromatographic techniques and working in close collaboration with the Avantor R&D and applications teams.
